Ion energy analysers are electrostatic devices for measuring ion energy distributions.   They can be of various forms including sector field energy analysers, cylindrical mirror energy analysers, Bessel-box energy analysers and retarding grid energy analysers.   They can be configured for measuring ion energy distributions from both ultra-high vacuum and plasma processes.
